JAKARTA, FIN.CO.ID - Kedutaan Besar (Kedubes) Inggris di Indonesia memposting pengibaran foto bendera pelangi yang dikenal sebagai simbol komunitas LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) melalui akun Instagram.
Tak hanya memposting bendera LGBT, Kedubes Inggris di Indonesia juga mendesak masyarakat internasional menghapus diskriminasi tehadap LGBT.

Melalui unggahan di instagram resminya @ukindonesia, Kedubes Inggris di Indonesia menyebut LGBT adalah Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM).
"Setiap orang berhak untuk mencintai dan dicintai. Bahwa setiap orang berhak untuk mengekspresikan diri tanpa rasa takut dan mendapatkan diskriminasi. Inggris berpendapat hak-hak LGBT+ adalah hak asasi manusia yang fundamental. Cinta itu berharga. Setiap orang, di mana pun, harus bebas untuk mencintai orang yang mereka cintai dan mengekspresikan diri tanpa takut akan kekerasan atau diskriminasi. Mereka seharusnya tidak harus menderita rasa malu atau bersalah hanya karena menjadi diri mereka sendiri,” tulis akun Kedubes Inggris di Indonesia @ukindonesia seperti dikutip FIN pada Sabtu (21/5/2022).

The UK holds that LGBT+ rights are fundamental human rights. Love is precious. Everyone, everywhere, should be free to love who they love and express themselves without fear of violence or discrimination. They should not have to suffer shame or guilt just for being who they are.
The strongest, safest & most prosperous societies give everyone room to live freely as who they really are, without fear of violence or discrimination. So all citizens are treated fairly and can play a full part in society.
The UK will champion LGBT+ rights and support those who defend them. We want to live in a world free of discrimination of all kinds. In the UK discrimination on the grounds of age, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, gender, disability, marital status, pregnancy and maternity, and yes - sexual orientation and gender reassignment – is illegal under the law.
LGBT+ history is as long as human history. Sexuality is part of our humanity. Yet criminalisation still happens: in 71 countries for consensual same-sex acts; in 15 countries for gender expression and / or identity through ‘cross-dressing’; and in 26 countries for all transgender people. Harassment and violence are a routine part of LGBT+ lives, everywhere.
